Business Permit Registration

To conduct any business within the jurisdiction of the Nairobi city  Council and to open up a
Bank account in any local Bank, you are required to obtain a Business Permit also referred
to as a city council Permit.

Procedure
Upon execution of the prescribed application form, affidavit where required and payment of
the prescribed fees (Where applicable, an inspection by council officials) You shall be
issued with a Business Permit.

The fees to apply for a business permit varies by type of business, number of employees,
and size of the company’s premises etc. The fee is payable to the Nairobi City Council,
Licensing Department. The City Council will issue a business permit.

Fee schedule for business permit:
- Medium trader, shop, or retail service from 5 to 20 employees and/or premises 50–300 sq.
m. (fair location): Kshs 5,000.
-Mid-size business of 50 employees and premises 300 sq. m.: about Kshs 20,000 to Kshs
50,000, depending on the nature of the business. Etc
